Well I’ll be. School's finally over for the year, my life as a sixth former is done, and all I have to do now is sit through a couple of hours of writing my name and filling in the blanks. It’s definitely been a mix of good (sweet parties, forgetful teachers not turning up to class) and bad (girls being forced to wear less revealing clothing, Katherine “writes feminist stories with no plot” Mansfield) but hey, that’s life.

I’d really like to begin this little reflection of mine by talking about something that happened at the start of the year. To be perfectly honest though, term one didn’t contain anything much of great interest. The Player Project of course was fun to watch (seriously, It was a great night out) and it did inspire me to try out for the production. Next to that however the only thing I can think of is the paper, scissors, rock competition, which is more than a bit sad. As always, I ended up being put in classes where I know and/or like very few of the people. Of course, as the year progressed, we became more familiar and less annoying to each other and it ended up alright. For anyone I didn’t get to know better over the course of the year, you’re welcome.

Everyone will obviously have a different opinion on what their 2008 school year highlight was, but for me, it was definitely the show. Everyone who was involved is so fucking talented, and to have had the chance to work with all of you is just awesome. To me it's pretty clear why our shows are by far the best (all you other high schools, thanks for trying -maybe next year huh?) with not a single person taking part who isn't incredible.

Term three was definitely all about the ball. We moved from “How hot is your date?” and “I’m going in a Hummerzine, what ridiculously excessive vehicle are you arriving in?” to “How awful/what a relief it’s a whole year until the next ball” and “What did you use to get the vomit out of your dress?” So thanks to the guys and gals who were on the organisation team, it was good fun. The afterball too must have been a pain in the ass to sort out and it was sweet as once we eventually made it inside (cheers Nirvana). Massive thanks to all the MAGS guys who brought along their very loose, easily intoxicated girlfriends.

Even our single week of term four proved to be worthwhile with the release of the piss take newsletter. Nice job guys. Some good satire never goes amiss and a bit of anarchy is always great (especially at SCONZ where we don’t get a lot of it). It was actually almost too well made and whoever put it together is definitely far beyond tying their own shoelaces. I’m pretty sure most students did enjoy reading it almost as much as you enjoyed writing and distributing it.

So despite it being sixth form, it's been a good year in many ways. To all the people who have been great friends and classmates I'd like to say thanks and, if you’re leaving, good luck for whatever your plans are. Alternatively, to any people who have screwed me over or messed me around, I'd just like to say go fuck yourselves.

Finally, if you read this little rant while you should been studying and haven’t found it particularly riveting, I apologise. However, I’d find it hard to believe that you’d rather be reading up on fiscal drag in a medieval economy, or learning the formula for the acceleration of a butter-coated balloon. I know that as soon as you’ve finished this it’ll be back to stalking your crush on Facebook, making sure all the headings in your book are properly underlined, or some other waste-of-time activity to put off studying for just that little bit longer. If you start to run out of ideas, how about writing a rant on the past school year? It’s a pretty effective.

Off like a ball dress,
Pete

    <lj:music>Christmas is all Around - Bill Nighy</lj:music>

Helllooooo

I had possibly the coolest experience ever yesterday.
I was looking at dvds in Borders, talking to a friend, when i looked up and saw Bill Nighy selecting dvds on the opposite side of the stand.
For those of you who don't know who Bill Nighy is (you uneducated lot!) he's a famous british actor who has starred in many films including Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean, Underworld, and heaps of others
It went something like this:
Me (shaking): Um greg can i show you a dvd back there it looks quite cool
Greg: Yeah ok
Me: (once on the other side of the section): Holy shit thats Bill Nighy!
Greg: What? No it isn't (he looks back) Holy shit it is!
Me: Oh my go what do we do?
Greg: It mite not be him lets just leave him alone
Me: That's him i swear it is!
Bill Nighy (on the other side of the section, talking to his handler in his brilliant accent): I've been meaning to watch this one, i hear it's beautiful
Greg: Ok thats him
Me: I told you! I'm going to talk to him
Greg: No, you're crazy!
I stride over to him, shaking.
Me: Excuse me, are you Bill Nighy??
Bill Nighy: Why yes I am
Me: Could I please get your autograph?
Bill Nighy: Yes sure, and i even have a pen
Me: Cool i'll just grab some paper (i go into my bag and see the dvd he's holding is flight of the conchords!) Good choice by the way, Flight of the Conchords, it's great
Bill Nighy: Yes I've seen a few episodes and thought it was very funny. I'm actually doing a film with Rhys Darby who plays Murray in it
Me: Really? So what are you doing in New Zealand?
Bill Nighy: Actually at the moment I'm filming Underworld 3
Me: Wow cool, thanks for the autograph
Bill Nighy: My pleasure
Greg: Could i get your autograph too please?
Bill Nighy: Certainly
Greg: thanks
Me: Got it, ok thanks again
Greg (whispering to me): and now we make a hasty exit
And we quickly walked out of the store

So that was my exciting story. It will be very difficult to beat that free period.

Got to see Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd yesterday... Brilliant.
There was much blood as well because whereas in any other film someone would go in for the cut and it would show the blood splatter against the wall, in Sweeney Todd theres none of that -you see razor throat slitting in all its bloody glory :)

Hey all!

I went to armaggedon yesterday with pnynablndr and did heaps of cool stuff:

- We both entered a kamehameha contest (i did a haka/kamehameha and pnynablndr did a popin' n lockin' kamehameha -one of the guys did a backflip!)

- I bought the Cowboy Bebop box set *salivates*, a Sin City poster, a Jack Sparrow figurine, a magazine and Wendy's (for lunch)

- But, by far the most awesome thing i did was talk to Steve Blum (the voice of Spike Spiegel, Onizuka, Vincent and heaps of others) and i got him to sign some stuff for me. Pnynablndr came up while i was talking to him and said "get him to do a Spike voice". So Steve Blum looked around to see if anyone was watching, motioned for us to come closer and says "I like the kinda chick that can kick my ass!". One of the things i got him to sign was the cover of my Cowboy Bebop DVD and purely by coincidence the woman sitting next to him did one of the other characters voices on the cover so i got two signatures.

So anyway it was a cool day,
im off to watch some Cowboy Bebop

See ya Space Cowboy!

<lj:music>"Business Time" - The Flight of the Concords</lj:music>

Hi everyone!

Havn't posted for a while because i can never remeber my livejournal password and i finally remebered where i wrote i down :3

So what's changed since my last post you probably aren't asking but i'll tell you anyway:

-I've moved up a level on ddr

-I saw a very good NZ film called "into the blue" which was probably the most tense and exhausting film i've ever seen (i had fingernail marks down the side of my stomach afterwards from clenching myself so hard O_o)

-And i saw some cool new NZ musicians/comedians called "the flight of the concords" on tv. They're pretty popular in the US and they do some really funny songs, the best of which i think is "business time"

The Flight of the Concords ^

So anyway i'm probably gonna go to armageddon tomorow with pnynablndr if that suits him and hopefully will come back with bags full of cheap anime and manga and posters and free givaways and figurines and cool things so that should be fun

BTW pnynablndr: for the love of god, please don't cosplay....please

well hello all

it seems like its got a hell of a lot colder over the last couple of days and so this morning my feet feel like popsicles (unfortunately they dont taste like them though).

I asked fergi the other day if he liked the song "nightmares" by The Bleeders and to my shock he replied he had never heard the song! so now fergi i want you to click here and listen to it because it's a cool song and you should feel ashamed that you haven't heard it already

I decided to express my music patriotism the other day so i went out and bought an NZ music month t-shirt which is cool (i'll only be able to wear it for a month though XP)

Until my feet change flavour

i recently saw a preview on tv for a program returning called "medium".
no, im not a fan of the show so the only reason it meant anything at all to me was that it used to be on before hustle.
i am a big fan of hustle.
so im wondering when the next season is gonna air if medium is already back?

for all of you wondering what hustle is, its basically an awesome tv series about a group of grifters (con artists).
in my opinion there is nothing cooler or more awesome than a grifter or heist flick so if you know of any that you've enjoyed tell me (although i doubt that there will be very many i haven't seen :P).
if you havent ever seen hustle before i definately suggest watching it when it comes back on.

in other news i recently got an electric guitar.
at the moment i dont have a teacher so ive just been teaching myself so my repertoire is pretty small :P

p.s. hope you like my new avatar ^_^
